Spread Love, Share Life: Philanthropy Week at St. Xavier’s School, Durgapur

13-Oct-2025

Inspiring students to embrace compassion, generosity, and social responsibility, St. Xavier’s School, Durgapur, observed “Spread Love, Share Life: Philanthropy Week” from 13 to 17 October 2025.

Throughout the week, students and parents generously contributed food grains, vegetables, clothes, and other essentials for the underprivileged. Guided by the belief that “Generosity cannot be forced,” the initiative encouraged children to give willingly and from the heart. It was not made mandatory.

As part of the outreach programme, staff and students extended support to families in two Santal villages, as well as to beggars and rag pickers. On 17 October, food grains and vegetables were distributed to 130 families in these villages, followed by essential supplies for another 100 families in and around Durgapur on 18 October.

The programme was organised in collaboration with the Missionaries of Charity and Swami Vivekananda Bani Prachar Samity, whose compassionate service and active involvement ensured its success.

The outreach programme brought smiles and a sense of belonging to many, underscoring the school’s strong commitment to community welfare. The week-long effort fostered empathy, solidarity, and humanitarian values among students. As the event concluded, heartfelt gratitude from both beneficiaries and volunteers echoed the spirit of Philanthropy Week — that even the smallest act of kindness can bring great joy and transform lives.
