Offering students a meaningful experience of global learning, cultural exchange, and international friendship, St. Aloysius Gonzaga School, Mangalore, Karnataka, successfully completed the third International Student Exchange Programme with Istituto Leone XIII, a Jesuit school in Milan.
A team of eight students from Class XI (2025–26 batch), accompanied by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Rohan D’Almeida S.J., and teachers Ms. Deepa Karkada and Ms. Deepthi Sahana, participated in the educational and cultural exchange programme held in Milan, Italy.
The students visited Florence and several historically significant places in Italy, gaining insights into the country’s rich heritage, art, and culture. The Italian students who had visited St. Aloysius Gonzaga School last October hosted the Gonzagaites, giving them a unique opportunity to experience Italian traditions, lifestyle, and hospitality firsthand.
The students also attended classes at Istituto Leone XIII and observed different teaching-learning practices followed in Italian schools. The interaction with students and teachers helped broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of global education.
“This Italy exchange programme was truly a dream come true for us. Even after returning home, the entire experience still feels surreal, magical, and unforgettable. From exploring the beautiful cities and historical places in Italy to learning about their culture and traditions, every moment was filled with excitement and joy. We made new friends, tried different food, attended classes in a new environment, and created memories that will remain in our hearts forever. The programme not only gave us wonderful experiences but also helped us become more confident, independent, and open-minded,” shared one of the students who participated in the exchange programme.
Parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Rohan D’Almeida S.J., Ms. Deepa Karkada, Ms. Deepthi Sahana, Ms. Aparna, and the management of both schools for organising the programme so beautifully and ensuring the safety and well-being of the students throughout the journey. They shared that the exchange programme was not just a trip, but an enriching and memorable learning experience that helped the students become more confident, independent, and ready to step out of their comfort zones.
Parents also appreciated the warm hospitality extended by the students, staff, and host families of Istituto Leone XIII. Many expressed that the memories, friendships, and experiences gained during the programme would remain cherished for a lifetime and inspire the students in their future educational and professional journeys.
